| Restoring Jobs for Nevadans |
|
||
I believe Nevada can once again lead the nation in job creation, but it will take new leadership to make it happen. Nevada must be declared a “Free Enterprise Zone.” We don’t need more failed government programs, interventions, and entitlements. We need our government to create the conditions for prosperity. Those conditions are: We can pave the way for entrepreneurs and big and small businesses to take a chance on Nevada by restoring the conditions that created over two decades of solid growth. The key to Nevada’s historic prosperity has been its limited government, low taxes, and business-friendly environment. Raising taxes on small businesses during a recession is ridiculous. That’s why I was opposed to the job-killing payroll tax and business fee increases passed by the Legislature in 2009. Even more heavy-handed taxes are proposed for the 2011 legislative session. If elected, I will lead the fight to Defeat the Increase! While I support targeted tax and infrastructure incentives to bring new businesses to Nevada, I don’t support more big government programs to oversee and overregulate economic development. Jobs will come when government steps aside and allows the private sector to create wealth and opportunity. The answer to restoring jobs doesn’t involve magic. Common sense was exiled and must be returned to its rightful place. If elected, I will fight runaway tax and spending. I will work to repeal damaging legislation that has restrained our economy, which is itching to be set free to recover.
